Insight2Work - Help open doors for care-experienced young people in Plymouth

Date

We are reaching out to invite you to be part of something truly meaningful, Insight2Work, a new mentoring initiative aimed at opening doors to employment for care-experienced young people aged 16 to 24-years-old in Plymouth.

Delivered in partnership by Skills Launchpad Plymouth’s Youth Hub, YMCA Plymouth’s mentoring programme, and Plymouth City Council’s Care Leavers team, this programme connects local businesses with young people who are eager to succeed but need the right support to take their next steps.

Within Plymouth, there are currently 540 children in care (under 18) and we continue to support a further 276 young people aged 18 to 25 who have care experience. Of these care leavers, only 44% are currently in education, training, or employment. That means 155 young people are not engaged in any of these pathways.

Could you or someone in your team help a young person by:

  • Sharing your/their career journey?
  • Guiding them through their first steps into employment?
  • Offering a workplace visit, volunteering, or insight session?

By giving just a little of your time, you can make a life-changing difference to a young person - and help build a more inclusive and equitable future workforce for Plymouth.
