Plymouth is preparing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Thursday, 8 May 2025. Taking place on the iconic Plymouth Hoe, the day’s events, kindly supported by Babcock and PL1 Events, will honour the city’s wartime legacy and its pivotal role during World War II.
The programme for the day includes a flag-raising ceremony, entertainment throughout, a sunset guard ceremony, and more. This important occasion offers Plymouth a chance to come together as a community to celebrate and pay tribute to its past.
There will also be other VE Day celebrations in and around Plymouth, including a special pop-up display at The Box, commemoration ceremony at Central Library, historical exhibition at Mount Edgcumbe, and VE Day themed activities at Plymouth Market. Additionally, street parties will take place across the city.
