SeaRegs Training is proud to announce that it has been awarded the highest possible rating of ‘Outstanding’ across all categories in its first official full Ofsted inspection, published today.
Following a three day inspection by Ofsted between 30 April and 2 May 2025, SeaRegs was rated Outstanding across all five categories of quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and apprenticeships.
Inspectors praised the Plymouth-based maritime training provider for delivering “highly valuable and thorough training” and transforming apprentices into “highly qualified, competent and confident mariners.” The report also highlighted the strong industry partnerships SeaRegs has cultivated and the organisation’s dedication to preparing apprentices for real-world challenges and leadership roles.
Vicky Jinks, Director of SeaRegs Training, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with this result. Achieving ‘Outstanding’ in every category is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion of our entire team, the drive of our apprentices and commitment of the employers. We are especially proud that this was our first full Ofsted inspection, following our monitoring visit in November 2023.”
SeaRegs currently delivers training to over 50 apprentices across the Level 3 Small Commercial Vessel (Crewmember) and Boatmaster Apprenticeships, providing them with a comprehensive suite of industry-recognised qualifications including safety, survival, and navigation skills. Apprentices train on sail or motor-powered vessels, often going on to secure permanent employment or promotions within the maritime industry.
The report noted that apprentices “develop their individual character and resilience substantially,” and are “exceptionally well prepared for their next steps.” Inspectors also praised SeaRegs’ instructors as experts who bring maritime topics to life with real-world insight, including emerging subject areas such as autonomous vessels.
Vicky added:
“We want more employers to know about the incredible opportunities apprenticeships can provide—not just for career progression, but for shaping the future of the maritime industry. We’re so grateful to the employers who trust us to train their apprentices and for the strong partnerships we’ve developed with them. And above all, we want to thank our apprentices and our wonderful, dedicated staff. They’re amazing, and it’s a privilege to be part of their journey.”
